We are seeing some improvement in the EMH service performance, although some issues are still being experienced at peak times.  We have identified some minor changes that should reduce the peaks in the disk system load and are implementing these tonight.  Further improvements should be seen tomorrow and over the course of the week.

Thankyou for your patience in this matter

Latest Report regarding Web Mail

Following advice from our storage platform vendor, work was completed on the evening of 22nd April to speed up disk throughput on the EMH systems.  These changes did not show any immediate effect this morning, however we are now seeing throughput increases as the changes take effect on new data written to disk.

We are also now adding additional I/O capacity, which will further improve the performance of webmail and email delivery

Synetrix Web Hosting Upgrade

Posted by Andrew Ferrier on Apr 23rd, 2008

Hold on to your hats folks…it might be a bumpy ride next week

Update 23/4/2008

The Synetrix / LGFL Web Hosting upgrade scheduled for Thursday 24th April 2008, has been postponed in light of the pending National teachers strike, along with the current Email Hosting issue. Schools are reporting to us that they wish to communicate to parents, the affect of such a strike on their school, via this LGFL hosted service. Access will therefore be restored within the next 30 minutes. This upgrade has been re-scheduled to take place the following week, starting Tuesday 29th April, with a targeted completion date of Friday 2nd May. I hope that you agree that this is a sensible approach. Should you wish to discuss this further then please do not hesitate in contacting the Synetrix support team on 0870 300 4010

Update

22/04/2008 17:04:02 - EMH

We are still experiencing issues with the LGFL EMH Platform.  Synetrix technical teams have been in discussions with our hardware storage vendor, and they have suggested a platform configuration change for this evening.  This work will take place at around 20:00.We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience that these performance issues are causing users.

Latest information update.

It is my melancholy duty to report that there is a major problem with Synetrix’s email exchange server which has resulted in the following message from the Talk2Synetrix web site

We are investigating issues with the Email platform whereby users will be experiencing slow connectivity and connection errors.  Engineers are working on the issues and we hope to have this resolved very soon. The lead call for this issue is 138116.

For further information please contact the CSC on: 0870 300 4010

I share your irritation  and I can assure you that the issue will be raised at the next LGFL Director’s meeting.

In the meantime you can track the progress of the job by visiting the Customer service site (http://www.talk2synetrix.com ) logging in with your name and password.

If you are unsure about login names and passwords please email me.

Unfortunately the only way I can share this information with our schools is through the ictbromley blog site which is thankfully a Synetrix free zone.

In the meantime if you want to express your opinions about the service please feel free to use the comments area.

Posted by Andrew Ferrier on Apr 4th, 2008

Hi Folks

I have returned after a refreshing three weeks in Australia, ready and keen to work on the blogsite (just as you are about to take a break!) The first piece of news you may want to consider is the following offer from Steljes which is reprinted below:

The SMART seminars are full day events aimed at providing teachers with information and guidance on how to use their SMARTboard as an effective tool for planning, teaching and assessment. Topics will include Assessment for Learning using the Senteo pupil response system from SMART, and how it facilitates interaction, engagement and personalised learning.

The attached flyer provides more information, including the two closest events to you in the South of England:

29th April - Cambridgeshire

30th April - Surrey

Please feel free to circulate to schools or to interested colleagues who may be able to travel to Cambridge or Surrey to attend.

Alternatively, visit the website where you can also book you place to attend either day:

www.smartseminars.org.uk

I will be attending and I would urge you to take advantage of the offer.

In the meantime have a great break!
