Now here’s a good idea…

(Thanks for ICTOPUS  Web Site)

This virtual dog links together work on vocabulary and awareness of how ICT can be used to create a simulation of a real event.p>
http://www.idodogtricks.com/index_flash.html

Try it out with the class, taking it in turns to suggest what the dog can do. The dog will either follow the instruction or let you know that he does not understand theinstructions. You could:

  • Make a list of words the dog seems to understand
  • Find instructions which produce the same event
  • List the things the dog cannot do.

For a longer activity try this virtual plant website which can be used to link with  science work and with ICT.
http://www.desksoft.com/DesktopPlant.htm

  • The plant will be installed on your desktop and will need regular care and attention. The demo installation will last 30 days. It can be positioned on the desktop by using the options menu, using the arrow keys to put the plant where it will be most convenient.  See how long the plant can be kept alive. Points to consider might include:
  • How tall is it?
  • What might it do next?
  • What is most likely to make it die?

LGFL and Email Issues

Posted by Andrew Ferrier on Nov 19th, 2007

Recently, some of our customers have experienced error messages when:

1.       Downloading emails from Digitalbrain into a third party email client such as Microsoft Outlook, via POP [Post Office Protocol].

2.      Using the Digitalbrain webmail interface itself.

The cause of these problems is an increased demand for connections to our email databases. When we reach a point at which we were unable to handle any more simultaneous connections to our email databases, our customers can experience:

The conference is free but places are limited.

London ICT Technicians Update Conference 2008

Posted by Andrew Ferrier on Nov 3rd, 2007

London ICT Technicians Update Conference 2007 - 17th March 2008 Following the success of the London ICT Technicians Conference held in March of this year, the London ICT Technicians Update Conference 2008 will be held at the BT Centre,
81 Newgate Street,
EC1A 7AJ on Monday 17th March 2008.
The last conference was highly oversubscribed, so in order to offer this opportunity to as many technical colleagues as possible we will be running this conference twice, using the morning and afternoon slots.  A light buffet lunch will be available. As with previous conferences, we will be focussing on short information and update sessions rather than the more traditional, longer presentations.  Some of the items that will be covered are listed below.  A full agenda of the day will be available prior to the event.

  • Sophos update
  • e-Safety – technical solutions
  • MLE update
  • Equipment security

This event always has a programme packed with valuable information for school technicians and relevant LA support staff and has been very well received by those who have attended in the past.  Details and sign up information can be found at www.events.lgfl.net
