Bromley ICT Adventures Program

Blogs, Podcasts, Video Conferencing, Web Quests, Digital film making and animation are being used effectively in schools to engage students in the curriculum. These tools  are deceptively easy to use and will extend student learning and assist in embedding staff skills. The  ICT team at Bromley Learning and Achievement wants to offer interested schools the opportunity to participate in a series of six week ICT Adventure Projects using these tools.

Description

The Bromley ICT Adventures program is a short six to eight week program involving teachers and students implementing a curriculum project using  the latest ICT tools and software. Examples include

  • Creating and presenting  Radio broadcasts using Podcasting software

  • Creating and sharing online journals using blogs

  • Collaborative Learning using Video Conferencing

  • Film Making and Animation with Digital cameras and camcorders

  • Developing Personalised Learning Programs through Web Quests

  • Designing and Publishing online games using Quandary and or Mission Maker

  • Customised Program designed by the school in association with ICT Company

  • Foundation KS1 Speaking and Listening using Talking Tin Lids (in association with the Curriculum Advisors)

Project Conditions

  1. The project will take place over six to 8 weeks (maximum)
  2. School must choose a Project coordinator who will be responsible  for maintaining a journal of the project and its outcomes. The Project Coordinator should be prepared to present work at forums such as ICT Project Leader Meetings or conferences

  3. Children’s work to be published on the school web site with a link to the LAS web site

  4. Bromley ICT Coordinator will  liaise with the school during the project

  5. Bromley ICT Coordinator to train school coordinator on the use of programs and to work with children for the initial skills development.

  6. The Bromley EDC will arrange to loan some equipment  such as cameras, USB Microphones etc to support the project on a short term although the school should be encouraged to match the investment wherever possible.

  7. Project Participation Costs £100 per school ( cover  equipment maintenance and to be used to re-equip program.
